Nitish flays Centre for meagre amount earmarked for AMU branch

Patna,(BiharTimes): Moments after sharing dais with the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar fired yet another salvo on the Centre.

Talking to the media after Sonia Gandhi left Chakla village in Kishanganj after laying the foundation stone of the off campus branch of the Aligarh Muslim University Nitish flayed the Centre over the very meagre amount earmarked for it. He said that the Centre had earmarked only Rs 136 crore for the AMU branch when the state government had provided Rs 1,000 crore for setting up an agriculture university in the district three months back.

He once again said that it was he who got the AMU centre changed from Katihar to Kishanganj as the latter was more backward from the education point of view.

He once again claimed the Bihar government had provided 224-acre of land in 2009, but the Congress government did not allot any fund for it all these years and not even constructed the boundary wall.

Whatever Nitish Kumar had said the truth is that it was on December 30, 2011 and not in 2009 (as he claimed) that the land was actually transferred to the AMU and that too after a massive protest by Muslims, cutting across party lines, on October 12, 2011.
