Monazir quits JD(U), to join BJP

Patna,(BiharTimes): Former Begusarai MP Monazir Hasan on Tuesday resigned from Janata Dal (United).

He is to join the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday afternoon.

He has been sulking since he was denied the party ticket for the Lok Sabha election though he was the sitting MP. Instead the party chose to give ticket to turn-coats like Ghulam Ghouse, Abu Qaiser and Akhtar-ul-Iman.

He told the media that he was feeling let down in the party though he had done everything for the Janata Dal(United).

Political observers are of the view that the return of Lallan Singh into the party fold and his rising stature may be one of the factors which led to the exit of Monazir.

Though Monazir was denied ticket his wife was fielded as the Janata Dal (United) candidate from Sahibpur Kamal Assembly seat in the by-election which she lost to RJD. This seat got vacant after the resignation of Parween Amanullah, who had crossed over to Aam Admi Party.

Monazir had served both under the Rabri Devi and Nitish Kumar governments as minister.
