Giriraj in deep trouble after theft in his Patna flat

Patna,(BiharTimes): The theft in the Anandpuri flat of BJP MP, Giriraj Singh, has taken a new twist with the recovery of Rs 1.14 crore, 600 US dollar and jewellery from a couple of thieves––one of them his own servant, Lakshman, and another the guard of the apartment, Man Singh.

The recovery of such a huge amount from the house of an MP, besides, dollars and jewellery raised a big question mark. Reports said that the Income Tax department has swung into the action and the state government too is planning to reach to the bottom of the fact.

At the same time it answered the question as to why Giriraj Singh did not mention the amount taken away by thieves from his house on Monday afternoon.

Notwithstanding repeated efforts by several mediapersons Giriraj––who is in New Delhi––is himself not stating much. He is just saying that he would issue a statement after seeking full information from the police. He said that as he was quite busy duringthe rail budget day in Parliament he is not in the position to get the full information till yet.

But the theft was committed on Monday afternoon and the police arrested two persons within four hours. Initially the SSP Manu Maharaj too remained tight-lipped over the amount recovered from the two persons who committed the crime.

In the beginning it was just reported in the media that though the thieves broke into the house they could not take much cash or kind.

But the promptness with which the police swung into action and arrested the main accused and recovered the amount rendered the same MP speechless as the amount was too heavy to be normally kept in the house. None of his party leader has spoken too on the topic.

Police sources said that if the amount is not of the MP, he would have to explain as to whose money it was and why was it kept in the house in which MP himself was not present. Can such a big amount be left in the flat at the hands of the servants and security guards?

The servant, Lakshman, had in a written statement confessed how he procured the keys and how he committed the crime.

Man Singh, the guard, who too was once implicated in a murder case, too confessed to have committed the crime.

Now the question is being asked as to why no mention of amount was made in the FIR lodged on Monday afternoon.

Giriraj is a bitter critic of Nitish Kumar. Now the theft from his house have come as a double blow to him. He lost the amount. He had to explain from where he got so much. And now ministers like Vijay Chaudhary and Shyam Rajak are ridiculing him and asking him to explain the source of the money.

Shyam Rajak went on to tease him by saying that Sushil Modi might have conspired against Giriraj as the latter was his bitter critic. “It seems that it is the fall out of the internal feud within the BJP,” he taunted.

Incidentally, the theft took place a couple of days after Nawada BJP MP, Giriraj Singh, talked about the deteriorating law and order situation and threatened to launch a stir against the state government.

The theft took place within hours after he left for New Delhi on Monday morning.

It was initially said that his two servants, Sadanand and Lakhshman, were not inside the flat.

Lakshman was in a servant’s quarter located on the third floor and Sadanand was at the basement of the Shivam Apartments.

When Sadanand went upstairs, he saw the latch of the main gate of the flat broken.
