Bihar feels neglected by rail budget as state gets fewer trains, no fund

Patna,(BiharTimes): There are few in Bihar to cheer the first rail budget of the Narendra Modi government presented by the railway minister Sadanand Gowda on July 8 as unlike, during the tenure of Ram Vilas Paswan, Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav, the state got very few trains. Even the massive rail projects––such as locomotive plants in Madhepura and Chapra, coupling plant in Dalmianagar etc––hardly got any major attention and the funds allocated for them is all-time low.

Ironically, there was no enthusiasm in the BJP camp in the state too for the railway budget as privately many leaders are feeling cheated. After all only last Friday the former deputy CM, Sushil Kumar Modi, met the Prime Minister and Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, to seek funds for the early completion of three rail-cum-road bridges in Bihar.

Bihar just got four Jansadharan Express, besides three express trains.

Instead more attention was paid to Karnataka, the railway minsiter’s home state and Gujarat, from where Modi himself comes.

The new Jansadharan Express would run on Jayanagar-Mumbai, Saharsa-Anand Vihar (Delhi), Darbhanga-Ahmedabad, and Saharsa-Amritsar routes.

New weekly trains on the Patna-Ahmedabad and Chhapra-Lucknow routes have also been announced. Besides, Anand Vihar-Sasaram Garib Rath has been extended up to Gaya.
