BJP, not JD(U), feeling besieged in Bihar Assembly

Patna,(BiharTimes): Normally it is the ruling party which gets cornered in the state Assembly. But in the last three days of the current session of Bihar Assembly it is none else, but the opposition BJP legislators who appear besieged.

Nobody, but the saffron party itself is to be blamed for the present crisis. As if that was not enough came the railway budget which has hardly anything to inspire, especially for the people of Bihar. The state got very few new trains and hardly any amount to complete its pending projects.

Hardly anyone in the state is ready to accept that Bullet train would ever run in India in the next few decades. Even if it would run it is not going to solve the problem of common passengers.

For the Bihar BJP first came the July 4 statement of Haryana party leader, O P Dhankar, on importing brides from Bihar. What is more the former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, instead of keeping silent, chose to defend Dhankar.

Not only the rival political parties but even women rights groups strongly denounced the BJP leaders. In the state Assembly and Council legislators, both men and women teased the BJP leaders as they wanted to distract the attention of the House by raising some other issues.

Then came the Giriraj Singh episode. The recovery of huge amount of money stolen from his house within four hours turned the table on the BJP leaders. Now the onus lies on the Nawada MP as the amount was too huge to be kept in the house.

Not to speak of legislators even the rank and file are being taunted by the common men and women. Not only Giriraj, other party leaders are also trying to evade the media.

On Wednesday the BJP leaders tried to raise the issue of police firing in Sasaram in which two persons were killed. But the ruling party MLAs and that of the RJD and Congress continued to raise the issue of Giriraj Singh in the state Assembly.

In these three issues the rival parties got an excellent opportunity to push the BJP on the backfoot. On all these three issues they targeted none else but prime minister Narendra Modi.

The Bihar BJP leaders are feeling let down as this was the best time for them to go on aggressive against the ruling Janata Dal (United).
