Bihar continues to top the list in property related murder

 




Patna,(BiharTimes): Like in 2012 Bihar witnessed the highest number of murders due to property disputes in the country.

According to the 2013 data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 6,882 murders took place for different reasons in Bihar in 2013.

Out of this 822 murders were related to property disputes while 371 people were killed allegedly for personal gain and 591 for personal enmity or personal vendetta.

The report also said that 100 murders were the fallout of love affairs or sexual relations while 101 women were killed for dowry.

The state police in 2013 did not file a single chargesheet in dowry death cases.

It needs to be recalled that in 2012 too, Bihar recorded the highest number of murders in the country over property disputes. The state recorded 1,159 murders related to property dispute, which was 32.5% of the total murders which took place in the state.

The state recorded 12 murders for political reasons. But it is West Bengal, with 25 murders, which topped in this category.

However, no murder was recorded for witchcraft in the state. The state police recorded no murder due to communal reasons and class conflicts.
