Patna,(BiharTimes): Cash, jewellery and other items worth well over Rs 50 lakh were stolen from the house of former MP Anirudh Prasad alias Sadhu Yadav, located at Mitra Mandal Colony under Phulwarisharif police station area on the night of Wednesday-Thursday.

Sadhu and his brother Subhash Yadav had gone to their native village at Phulwaria in Gopalganj district to perform the last rites of their father.

According to police a caretaker of the house, who was there, was sleeping at the staff’s quarters located behind the house. He told police that he switched on the lights of the veranda of the house before going to sleep. But on Thursday morning, when he entered the house, he found the locks of the rooms broken. The bedroom of Sadhu Yadav was ransacked and the locker kept there was broken too.

The FIR said that Rs 15 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 25 lakh were stolen. It also mentioned that the value of stolen items may increase once the search of the whole house is completed.

The FIR, lodged by Sadhu, hinted that the amount may be even around Rs one crore.

It seems that the thieves entered the house by breaking open the window of the master bedroom from the roof of the neighbour’s house. The cash and jewellery were kept in a locker of the bedroom
