Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday night decided to support the two Independent candidates for the Rajya Sabha by-poll to be held on Thursday. Both these candidates enjoy the support of the rebel Janata Dal (United) MLAs.

Announcing this to the media late on Wednesday night after the meeting of party legislators former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi said that his party had taken the decision to back the candidatures of Sabir Ali and Anil Sharma.

He said that facing sure defeat the Chote Bhai and Bade Bhai have joined hands which is against the mandate given by the people of the state in November 2010. He said that he would like the alliance between the Janata Dal (United) and RJD to continue as this would ensure the defeat of both in the coming Assembly election.

Political observers are of the view that the decision of the RJD chief Lalu Prasad early on Wednesday evening to support the JD(U) made the task of the saffron party much easier.
