Lalu, Nitish flay rise in train fare

Patna,(BiharTimes): Former railway ministers Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav have strongly criticized the hike in the fare of train passengers and rise in freight charge.

While RJD leader Lalu Prasad said that after showing the dream of ‘achche din’ (good days) the Narendra Modi government had fired the first salvo on the people of the country. He said, never to his knowledge, the passenger and freight rates have been increased so much in one go.

On the other hand another former railway minister Nitish Kumar, not only criticized the rise in fare, but also came down heavily on this tradition of increasing the rate before the railway budget. He asked as to why had this rate been hiked when the railway budget is about to be tabled in Parliament. He said prices of essential commodities would rise after this rise in fare and freight charge.

It must be recalled that the railways on June 20 announced the rise in passengers’ fare by 14.2 per cent and freight hike by 6.5 per cent.
