Manjhi meets PM, seeks special status for Bihar

 


Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence on Saturday, raised the issue of the special category status to Bihar.

Talking to the media in Patna on Monday he said that the issue of special status should not be seen with political angle as Modi had in Bihar himself raised this issue several times during his election speeches in the state.

Manjhi submitted a memorandum seeking grant of special category status to Bihar and fulfilment of other demands including financial assistance for the agriculture road map of the state, reimbursement of expenses on the repair and upkeep of national highways and construction of rail and road bridges over the Ganga.

Manjhi also sought early raise of fund for the construction of rail-cum-road bridge over river Ganga at Digha in Patna. Manjhi said that there is urgent need to build this bridge as both the Rajendra bridge near Mokama and one between Patna and Hajipur need repair.
