CBI fails to crack Ranvir Sena chief’s murder case

Patna,(BiharTimes): Even as the second death anniversary of the founder of Ranvir Sena, Bramheshwar Singh alias Mukhiaji, was observed in Ara on Sunday the CBI has made no headway in the probe.

Mukhiyaji was killed at about 4:30 AM on June 1, 2012 in Ara while he was taking morning walk. The Janata Dal (United) MLA, Sunil Pandey, was accused by the local people, as the man responsible for the murder. There was large scale violence in Ara and Patna after the killing.

Ranvir Sena supporters alleged that the investigating agency is going slow because of the political reason. They also say that the main accused is still at large.

The police have named eight persons as accused and arrested six of them but they failed to prove their involvement in the murder.

Monu Rai alias Ritesh Kumar, son of Manoj Kumar, mukhiya, Kurmuri panchayat and a close associate of the JD(U) MLA, his friend Sunny Singh alias Harshvardhan alias Rahul Kumar, Anil Kumar Pandey, son of Sunrendra Pandey, Prince Kumar Pandey, Yogendra Pandey, Hareram Pandey. Abhay Kumar Pandey, son of Surendra Pandey, appeared before the CBI but Nand Gopal Pandey alias Fauji, supposed to be the prime accused in the murder case, is still at large. The government had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head.

The police attached properties of Abhay Kumar Pandey and also got permission of polygraph and NARCO tests of the arrested persons from the court but they refused to undergo the NARCO test. The arrested persons were granted bail.

It needs to be recalled that on the direction of DGP Abhyanand, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the then the DIG, Shahabad range, Ajitabh Kumar, was formed to solve the case within a month. It was dissolved in July 2012 after the SIT submitted its report. Later the then Bhojpur SP M R Naik took charge of the investigation.

The infighting within the Ranvir Sena was reportedly the cause of the killing.

Meanwhile, Indu Bhushan, younger son of Mukhiyaji, who is also the national president of the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtrawadi Kisan Sangthan (ABRKS) and mukhiya of Khopira panchayat said he had filed a writ petition in Patna high court seeking CBI inquiry into the murder of his father after the Patna high court rejected a PIL filed by Shashikant Sharma for the purpose.
