Janata Dal (United) suspends MLA Ravindra Rai

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Janata Dal (United) on Sunday suspended one of its MLAs Ravindra Rai for six years

Announcing the decision the party spokesman, K C Tyagi, said that the JD(U) has suspended Rai as he had been indulging in the anti-party activities.

In a Press conference on Friday Ravindra Rai had strongly criticized the former chief minister Nitish Kumar.

The party has also issued show cause notice to two other MLAs Gyanendra Singh Gyanu and Poonam Devi.

Incidentally, these three legislators were among those who met the party chief Sharad Yadav early on Sunday morning. The meeting took place at the state guest house and lasted for about two and a half hours.

Since the announcement was made by Tyagi, a close associate of Sharad, it is thus clear that the action has the latter’s sanction.

Sources said that Sharad reportedly agreed to take action after the tough stand taken by the former chief minister Nitish Kumar. The latter had reportedly urged the party chief to solve the problem of rebellion and thus get elected to the Rajya Sabha.
