Gyanu calls on Ram Vilas Paswan as several rebels look towards LJP

Patna,(BiharTimes): The leader of the rebels in Janata Dal (United), Gyanendra Singh Gyanu, called on the Lok Janshakti Party leader and Union minister for food and consumer affairs, Ram Vilas Paswan, in Patna on Sunday
The meeting incidentally took place after the Barh MLA, along with other legislators, met JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav in the state capital.
Gyanu’s meeting with Ram Vilas is significant as there is turmoil in the Janata Dal (United).
Analysts are of the view that Gyanu and some other leaders want to mend their fences with Ram Vilas as they can move to LJP if the Janata Dal (United) takes any action against them.
They are left with only two choices––either to go to the RJD or move to the ruling combination in the Centre. But with the prospect of the RJD––like that of JD(U)––not bright they may opt to go to the LJP. It would not be too appropriate for them to join the BJP as such a move may raise serious questions. Even the BJP leaders would not like these rebels to join their party at this point of time as the JD(U) would then get an excuse to blame the saffron party for whatever is happening in the ruling party in the state.
The Rashtriya Lok Samata Party of Upendra Kushwaha, the other alliance partner of the BJP, is too small a party for these rebels to join.
So in the months to come the LJP may emerge as the B-team of the BJP––a role which JD(U) itself used to play till June 16 last year.
Meanwhile, Gyanu has dared the JD(U) leadership to take acion against him. Commenting on the party’s decision to suspend one of the rebel MLAs, Ravindra Rai, he asked as to why the party has taken action against backward and weak. If it has the guts it should take action against him, he said.
