Zakir Anwar joins JD(U), charges Ram Vilas of accepting Rs 50 crore from BJP

Patna,(BiharTimes): The lone Lok Janshakti Party MLA, Zakir Husain, who quit the party in protest against its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday joined the Janata Dal (United) in presence of chief minister Nitish Kumar.

He later went to the party office, where he was greeted by Janata Dal (United) leaders and workers. The state party chief, Bashishta Narayan Singh and Rajya Sabha MP, R C P Sinha were also present on the occasion.

Zakir accused his former boss Ram Vilas Paswan of ditching the secular forces and the people of the state. He said that Paswan is now sitting in the lap of Sangh Parivar and charged that he had crossed over after a deal of Rs 50 crore was made with the BJP.

"Paswan has taken huge amounts for alliance with the saffron party at the cost of principles of his party," Anwar said.

He said people of Bihar are making jokes and poking fun at Paswan's alliance with the BJP.

"Paswan will taste bitter fruit after the Lok Sabha polls," he said.

Anwar, legislator from the Araria assembly constituency, resigned from the LJP Feb 26, saying there was no moral ground for him to continue with the LJP.

"LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan's closeness to the BJP and its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi shocked and surprised me because Paswan was not missing a chance to target both for communal politics," he said.
