Secular’ Ram Kripal joins BJP, praises NaMo for raising Sachar report

Patna,(BiharTimes): While joining the Bharatiya Janata Party in presence of party chief Rajnath Singh and other leaders, Ram Kripal Yadav, still tried to sound ‘secular’ by stating that he would remain so “till the end of his life.”

Speaking at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi he criticized his former political boss Lalu Prasad Yadav for promoting family rule, ignoring social justice and raising the issue of communalism just for the sake of electoral gain.

Ram Kripal, who was a familiar RJD face in the TV media, departed from his past role to shower praise on the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate and “son of a tea-vendor” Narendra Modi for raising the Sachar Committee report in Purnea to highlight the sorry plight of Muslims in Bihar.

Obviously on Wednesday Ram Kripal was not there to flay NaMo for not implementing the same Sachar Committee recommendation in Gujarat, but to praise the status of Muslims in that state.

As he was a bit popular among Muslims at his home-turf in Patna he wanted to keep up the same image and not sounded like a classic BJP man. Yet he tried to be calm and composed while explaining the reason for leaving his old party, the RJD.

He started his speech by stating that he was never a leader, but a man of masses, “gali and sadak” (man of street) and that he was a bit indecisive before taking this step.

However, he still addressed RJD supremo as “Adarnya Laluji” but regretted that he was responsible for the neglect of grass-roots workers in the party.

Calling the BJP leaders present there as Bhai he had a word of praise for Dr C P Thakur, Dharmendra Pradhan and Syed Shahnawaz Husain.

He accused Lalu Prasad and others of neglecting the ideology of Ram Manohar Lohia and Karpoori Thakur.

He never missed to praise the development made by Gujarat and wished that NaMo would certainly become the prime minister of the country.
