Sachar is based on 2001 Census, so no scope for NaMo to take credit and blame me: Nitish

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday once again ridiculed his Gujarat counterpart and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, for using old, outdated and wrong data and information to show that the condition of Muslims in Bihar is bad and that in Gujarat very good.

Talking to the media, he, without taking anyone’s name, said that it must be understood that Sachar Committee was constituted in 2005 and most of the data quoted in it have been taken from the 2001 Census. So how come his government be held responsible for what had happened before 2001.

Not only that even Narendra Modi can not take the credit as he himself became the chief minister of Gujarat in 2001.

Nitish said that why is it that the BJP leader so much bothered about what had happened long back and not what has been done by the state government for the people in general and Muslims in particular in the last eight years.

He asked if no development has taken place in Bihar than why were these leaders till recently so much applauding the work done by the state government.

He listed a series of works done in the last few years for the minorities. The employees of the state government Madarsas are getting Sixth Pay scale. Minority students too are getting free uniforms, bicycles, books, scholarship etc. “I donot know what are you giving. He also referred to the Talimi Markaz and Awzar programme.

“I want to say that we can not compare developed state of Gujarat with backward Bihar. It should have been measured with any backward state and not Gujarat, which has always been a developed state…I am demanding special status for Bihar just for the development of the state,” he said adding that what had happened in Gujarat and what in Bihar needs to be highlighted. He accused NaMo of not making his stand clear on the special category status.

The special category status would attract more investment and provide tax relief and stop migration of labours.

Responding to Modi’s charge of Bihar government returned the Kosi tragedy donation he asked as to why the Gujarat government accepted it. Nitish said that the state government got donation from various states but none of them used to advertise the amount in newspapers. This is humiliation (apmaan) to the victims of the flood hit people of Bihar, he added.
