Lalu flays Rajnath for playing caste to woo votes for BJP

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Rashtriya Janata Dal president, Lalu Prasad, on Friday charged his BJP counterpart, Rajnath Singh, with playing the caste angle to seek the vote of his castemen in Bihar.
Talking to the reporters he said that Singh was telling his fellow Rajput castemen that it was not Narendra Modi but he was the ‘real’ candidate for the post of the prime minister so that they could vote for the BJP.

However, he said neither Modi nor Rajnath would succeed in their bid to befool the people of Bihar, who are intelligent enough to teach them the basic lesson of politics.

Lalu dubbed Rajnath as a ‘parrot’ tutored by RSS.

Political observers are of the view that Lalu’s allegation against Rajnath has many takers in Bihar as eight of the 30 BJP candidates in the fray are Rajputs. Besides, its alliance partner, the LJP, has given ticket to Rama Singh.

Never before the BJP has given ticket to Rajputs in such a large number. The party wooed leaders of this caste from different parties towards the BJP. Sushil Singh, Putul Kumari and Raj Kumar Singh joined the saffron party recently.

Other BJP leaders from this caste who are in the fray are Janardan Singh Sigriwal, Udai Singh, Pradeep Singh, Radha Mohan Singh and Rajiv Pratap Rudy.

What is interesting is that Lalu, while talking to the media, appeared somewhat soft towards the Samajwadi Party chief, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party leader, Mayawati and said they are genuinely working for the Dalits and downtrodden section of the society.

Perhaps he has done so keeping in mind the post-poll prospect.

His statement against Rajnath is being seen as a counter-attack as only a day earlier the BJP chief said that Lalu is afraid of Congress.
