Nitish ends campaign with call to fire ‘teer’ to extinguish lantern

Patna,(BiharTimes): In the final phase of poll the Bihar chief minister, Nitish Kumar, has perhaps decided to concentrate most on the parliamentary constituency of Vaishali, also called the mother of republics, and from where the main opponent, the Rashtriya Janata Dal, has once again put up none else but Raghuvansh Prasad Singh.

He concluded his speech with the appeal to the voters at Chak Ghulamuddin on Saturday to fire so many teer (arrows), the election symbol of RJD, that the lantern cease to give light. He said that there is no need for lantern when there is power supply in the state.

“Itne teer chalaiye ki lantern bujh jaye. Jab bijli hai toh lantern ki kya zaroorat?” he said adding “Sara kuda, kachra aur kichad saaf kar dijiye. Kichad hi nahi rahega toh kamal kaise khilega.” (How will the lotus bloom when all the filth and garbage are cleared.)

Incidentally, he chose the constituency of Vaishali, for the second time in a few days, to claim how much development has been made under his government. He recalled how Bihar was in the era of darkness and there was no development in the state during 15 years of previous government.

The choice of Vaishali for repeatedly raising the issue of non-development under the RJD rule is a bit surprising as the constituency is said to be well taken care of by its sitting MP Raghuvansh, under whose tenure as the Union rural development minister, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana was launched, which not only changed the face of rural roads of Bihar, but of other states too.

Curiously the crowd who assembled to listen to Nitish here was too small when compared to his earlier public meetings.

The chief minister also said that this election would be remembered for unprecedented display of money power and low-level personal attacks.
