Bihar heading for new political realignment

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav has hinted of a big political realignment following the resignation of Nitish Kumar from the post of chief minister.

Talking to the media first in New Delhi on Saturday evening and again in Patna on Sunday morning he said that his party would even tie-up with Lalu Prasad’s RJD for formation of a secular alliance.

He said Nitish’s successor would be chosen by Sunday evening and that the party’s decision would surprise the country.

“We will save the country,” he told the newsmen in Delhi on Saturday evening adding that the JD(U) remained the single largest party in Bihar and would form a government under a new leader.

Sharad Yadav said that the kind of mandate that has come has posed a challenge and they would deal with it.

He said old differences (with Lalu) would not pose a problem when it comes to the interest of the country. Bihar is the place from where most agitations and new paths had emerge and this would happen once again.

RJD too has soften its stand towards the JD(U) as 12 of its MLAs, who crossed over to the ruling party, returned to the party fold on Saturday. One of them, Akhtar-ul-Iman, had already resigned from his seat. The Speaker, Uday Narayan Chaudhary, issued the notification in this regard.

The recent development came after the reported claim by the BJP that about 50-odd JD(U) MLAs are in touch with the saffron party.

Meanwhile, agriculture minister, Narendra Singh, was in New Delhi on Saturday. He was one of the outspoken critics of the chief minister and skipped the cabinet meeting on Thursday.
