Lalu defends Manjhi as BJP’s double standards on CM’s PA exposed

Patna,(BiharTimes): RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday finds no wrong in chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi having his own son-in-law as the personal assistant.

Talking to the media in New Delhi after the meeting of the leaders of erstwhile Janata Parivar he said that Manjhi comes from the Musahar community, which is the weakest in the society, so the media always twists his remarks.

Speaking specifically on Manjhi’s son-in-law working as the personal assistant Lalu said “Rakha hai to usse keya Kharab ho gaya” (What is wrong if he has appointed him.)

Ironically the circular banning the appointment of any close relative as the PA of chief minister, minister or anyone equivalent to these posts was issued when Lalu’s spouse Rabri Devi was the chief minister of the state.

Yet another irony is that the BJP has taken up the issue very strongly even though the fact is that Devendra Kumar had been serving as the PA of Manjhi ever since 2006 when the latter became the minister in the Nitish Kumar cabinet. The big question is as to what was the BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi doing all these eight years. In fact he himself was the deputy CM and 10 other BJP leaders were in the Nitish cabinet till June 16, 2013.

Political observers ask as to how morally appropriate it would be for the BJP to criticize the chief minister now if the issue was really so important.
