C P Thakur upset over cabinet expansion

Patna,(BiharTimes): The cabinet expansion did not please all in the Bihar unit of Bharatiya Janata Party.
As reported earlier many party leaders expressed their surprise over the induction of Nawada MP, Giriraj Singh, as his image was not good. His utterances during the election campaign and the robbery in his flat after the election had greatly dented his and the party’s image, yet Modi found him fit to induct him in the cabinet.

Obviously these leaders did not want to come out openly against the prime minister’s decision.

But Union minister like Dr C P Thakur, was visibly upset.

It was the expansion done at the instance of the RSS and not the BJP, he said adding all the work is done with the consent of Sangh. It is not of the party. It is the prime minister’s prerogative to expand his cabinet, he added. What he left unsaid was more important.

Dr Thakur was well aware that age is not on his side and he would not be inducted in the cabinet, yet he chose to comment. He certainly had something to convey, which he did in his own style.

Both Dr Thakur, who is the Rajya Sabha MP, and Bhola Singh, MP from Begusarai, are over 75 and like Giriraj are Bhumihar. They have recently been critical of the style of functioning of the new BJP leadership.
