Uneasy calm in Kishanganj, report of curfew wrong

Patna,(BiharTimes): Uneasy calm prevails in Kishanganj on Wednesday following widespread protest over the rumour that a chopped head of cow has been found in a plot of land said to be reserved for constructing a temple.
The peace committee held its meeting again on Wednesday. Shops, educational institutions and many offices were either closed or wore a deserted look, though no curfew was imposed as wrongly reported by several newspapers and news agencies. Only Section 144 was imposed.
Prominent citizens were surprised over the way things have taken shape in the district known for communal amity. One of them, while talking to BiharTimes on condition of anonymity, expressed shocked at the way the media highlighted the news and gave a new twist. “How could the media report that curfew has been imposed when actually only Section 144 was imposed on Tuesday,” he asked.
He did not rule out the possible involvement of land mafia in fanning the controversy.
