Doctors’ associations pressurizing CM to withdraw suspension against PMCH superintendent

Patna,(BiharTimes): Extending apologize for whatever happened at Patna Medical College Hospital after the October 3 stampede members of the state chapter of Indian Medical Association and Bihar Health Services Association (BHSA) called on chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Thursday to seek withdrawal of suspension against superintendent of PMCH Lakhendra Prasad and action against seven other doctors.
Though the IMA amd BHSA delegation expected positive result and assured that dereliction of duty would not be repeated, according to official sources, the chief minister did not give any guarantee.
BHSA general secretary Dr Ajay Kumar, its spokesperson Ranjeet Kumar as well as IMA members Narendra Prasad and Manju Gita Mishra were those who met Manjhi.
One of the delegation members said that they apologised for whatever happened on the day when the chief minister had visited PMCH. There might be some mistake on the part of doctors.
They told the chief minister that if the chief minister wants, they would ask the PMCH doctors concerned to give an undertaking to him regarding the matter.
The delegation members told the media that meeting was held on a positive note as the chief minister asked BHSA and IMA to jointly give him in writing that such incidents would not recur and they agreed to it. The letter would be a formality.
The delegation claimed that they are sure that the action taken against the doctors would be withdrawn.
According to Dr Ajay Kumar the chief minister was told in the meeting that the PMCH superintendent had reached the hospital after he called him up but he had reached a little late. “We also told the chief minister about the deteriorating health condition of the PMCH superintendent. We are sure that the meeting would have a positive outcome.”
