Doctors to call off stir after CM goes soft

 


Patna,(Bihartimes): A section of doctors associated with the state chapter of Indian Medical Association and Bihar Health Services Association (BHSA) on Sunday decided to drop its agitation plans and strike after accepting the clarification by chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi for his chopped the hands off remarks against them.

IMA and BHSA officials met Principal Health Secretary Deepak Kumar and discussed the issue.

According to BHSA general secretary Dr Ajay Kumar the Principal Health Secretary told them regarding the goodwill of the chief minister for doctors. He said the CM had already clarified his statement through media and requested the doctors not to take the literal meaning of his words, which was used proverbially.

Dr Kumar said the CM had expressed that 90 per cent of doctors are good and he had no problem with them.

The IMA and BHSA also appealed to PMCH doctors to take back their call for indefinite strike scheduled from October 20.

Dr Kumar said the state government has revoked the suspension of the PMCH superintendent Lakhindra Prasad after accepting his clarification on his absence from the hospital when the chief minister suddenly inspected it two days after the Durga Puja stampede, in which 33 people lost their lives.

The IMA and BHSA also expressed satisfaction that lenient view would be taken after the transferred PMCH doctors submit their replies about their absence. They were also assured that suspension of two doctors in the case of death of kids due to non-availability of oxygen would be postponed with immediate effect after they reply to the show cause notice issued to them.
