Has Manjhi poured cold water into JD(U) plan?

Patna,(BiharTimes): Chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s statement that “given the political situation, I will continue to be the chief minister when the next anniversary of Shri Babu is organized and that we will celebrate his anniversary at Gandhi Maidan on a grand scale next year” is being interpreted in different ways in the political circle of Bihar.
Political observers are citing it as another example of his assertiveness. It is good that former chief minister Nitish Kumar chose to skip this function and went to attend the one in New Delhi. He would have been embarrassed by such remarks.
However, another opinion is that Manjhi would have been much guarded in presence of Nitish, who went to Delhi along with five ministers of his cabinet only to show as to who is more powerful.
Incidentally, only one of the Manjhi’s ministers, Mahachandra Prasad Singh, attended the function in Patna which was essentially organized by the Congress leader and former Union minister Akhilesh Singh.
By stating that he would remain as the chief minister till next yeat Asssembly election which is due in October-November Manjhi has, in a way, nipped in the bud any plan of the Janata Dal (United) leadership to replace him before the election.
Manjhi is often accused of shooting his mouth off, but Tuesday’s remarks appear to be a well calculated move to pour cold water into any plan to replace him and bring back Nitish Kumar before the Assembly election.
