Several injured in group clashes in Bhojpur village

Patna,(BiharTimes): Over 15 people, including half a dozen policemen, were injured in Sahar block of Bhojpur district on Saturday evening after clashes between two groups of people over immersion of idols in river Sone.

Mob indulged in stone-throwing and several crude bombs were also exploded. About half a dozen shops and some vehicles were also set on fire.
According to the Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar the situation is tense but under control. He said an FIR has been lodged with the Sahar police station against the trouble-makers and police were searching for them.

The district magistrate of Bhojpur, Pankaj Kumar Pal, has also rushed to the spot.

The SP said some people had taken out a procession and were going to the bank of river Sone for immersion of the idol of goddess Kali. When it approached Sahar police station, people of another community objected and prevented the procession from passing through that route. This was followed by heated exchange between the members of the rival groups leading to fight between them. Within minutes, both the groups started pelting stones on each other.

The police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the mob and brought the situation under control.
The SP has also suspended the SHO of Sahar police station.
