Now Shatrughan backs SuMo as BJP’s CM candidate

Patna,(BiharTimes): A couple of days after asking the party to elect and announce its chief ministerial candidate Patna Sahib MP Shatrughan Sinha on Monday described former deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi as the leader acceptable to all in the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Speaking at a programme organized to mark the first anniversary of serial blasts at the BJP’s Hunkar rally on Oct 27 last he said Sushil Kumar Modi was the ‘sarvmanya’ (consensus) leader of the party in Bihar.

Bihari Babu called the leader of opposition in state Assembly, Nand Kishore Yadav, as his guide during the campaign in Lok Sabha elections. Both SuMo and Nand Kishore are said to be in the race for the chief ministerial candidate. Incidentally, both come from the backward caste.

However, SuMo clarified that the talk of CM candidate was pre-mature as the Assembly election is a year away. The party's central parliamentary board takes decisions on such issues, he further added.

Shatru’s statement came after some senior BJP leaders, especially belonging to the Bhumihar castes, such as Dr C P Thakur, Chandra Mohan Rai, Bhola Singh, Giriraj Singh etc strongly opposed the name of Sushil Kumar Modi.

Even Ashwini Choubey and backward caste leaders like former minister Prem Kumar and Rameshwar Chaurasia are dead against Sushil Modi.
