New Delhi, Oct 29 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday greeted the nation on the occasion of Chhath Puja.

"My greetings on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja. May the blessings of the Sun God brighten our lives with joy, peace and prosperity," he said in a tweet.

The prime minister also urged people to pledge towards a clean India while offering their prayers to the Sun God.

Chhath Puja is celebrated on the sixth day following Diwali and is dedicated to the Sun. It is one of the most popular festivals in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
