Those involved in medicine scam will not be spared: CM

Patna,(BiharTimes): After repeated allegations by former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi that blacklisted medicine firms have funded Janata Dal (United) Lok Sabha election campaign Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Thursday said stern action would be taken against those found guilty in the medicine and equipment purchase scam.
Talking to the media after the oath-taking by nine out of 10 newly elected MLAs he said the probe committee report has come and it has revealed a scam of Rs 14.4 crore. Those found guilty would not be spared. Stern action would be taken against them.
He, however, parried questions that his predecessor Nitish Kumar was holding the portfolio of health by saying that he did not know about the situation back then.
As reported the health department had put the report of medicine scam probe committee, headed by Additional Director (Health) K K Singh, in public domain on Wednesday. It indicted Bihar Medical Services Infrastructure Corporation Limited (BMSICL) Managing Director Praveen Kishore and eight other senior officials for the scam and revealed that drugs worth Rs 14.4 crore out of total Rs 60 crore purchased during January and July this year were bought at inflated prices in comparison to the rate fixed by the State Health Society (SHS).
Health minister Ramdhani Singh had also said, that action against the guilty would be taken within 48 hours.
