Magadh University campus short-listed for IIM

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar government has short-listed Bodh Gaya-based Magadh University (MU) for the Indian Institute of Management (IIM). The Union finance minister, Arun Jaitley, has in the last budget announced the establishment of an IIM in Bihar and sought land from the state government.
Magadh University has a sprawling campus and Gaya has better land and air connectivity and is thus most suitable for the premier management institute.
According to reports the final call will be made by the site selection committee which is likely to visit Gaya for spot verification.
In a letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor of Magadh University, H R Srinivas, the special secretary, department of education has sought detailed proposal for the establishment of the IIM in Magadh University premises.
Gaya already has a Central University of Bihar while the other one is to be set up in Motihari in East Champaran.
Administrative Training Institute building too is under construction in Gaya and the Officers’ Training Academy have entered into collaboration for Defense Management Course.
There already is a medical and engineering college in Gaya.
