HC asks two BJP MPs to file affidavits

Patna,(BiharTimes): A single bench of Justice K K Mandal of Patna High Court on Thursday asked two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha members from Bihar, Chhedi Paswan and Janardan Singh Sigriwal, to file an affidavit within 15 days and explain whether the criminal cases pending against them were mentioned while filing nomination papers for the the last parliamentary election.
Chhedi defeated former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar in Sasaram while Sigriwal trouned RJD leader Prabhunath Singh in Maharajganj.
A voter from Sasaram, Ganga Mishra, had filed a petition in the court against Chhedi charging him with not disclosing all the pending criminal cases while submitting his nomination papers.
In Maharajganj former MP Prabhunath Singh filed a petition against Janardan Singh Sigriwal.
The court observed that in light of the Supreme Court stand on tainted MPs, the HC would like to expedite all such cases against parliamentarians.
