Patna,(BiharTimes): After days of murmuring within the BJP one of its senior vice presidents, Dr C P Thakur, has come out openly in defence of former chief minister Nitish Kumar and against his own party leader, Sushil Kumar Modi, in the medicine purchase scam.
Efforts are on by a section of the BJP to silence Sushil Modi as he is, what many leaders feel, deliberately trying to implicate three former health ministers of the party in the scam as they are all opposed to his leadership in Bihar.
Dr Thakur on Sunday gave clean chit to former chief minister Nitish Kumar saying that it was unfair to cast aspersions on his integrity and honesty.
Talking to the reporters Dr Thakur said he had known Nitish Kumar for the last many years and have very good relations with him. The former CM is an upright person known for honesty and integrity in public life.
On being reminded of Sushil Kumar Modi’s stand Dr Thakur said that as far as he was concerned Nitish Kumar was honest to the core and it would be unfair to cast aspersion on him in the scam.
He said that this practice of launching allegations must be stop at once and the investigating agencies be allowed to probe the matter to bring the culprits to book.
Dr Thakur’s defence of Nitish Kumar may come as a big blow to Sushil Modi’s campaign against the former CM. Pressure is building up within the BJP to stop SuMo as it may harm the party in the longer run.
BJP had to say that it may be Dr Thakur’s personal view.
