IMA refuses to buckle under Pappu’s pressure

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has refused to buckle under pressure of Madhepura MP Rajesh Ranjan, alias Pappu Yadav, over his ‘diktat’ to doctors to ‘fix’ their consultation fees.
The state IMA president Dr Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, asked as to who is Pappu Yadav to regulate doctors’ fees? Is there no government in Bihar?
As an MP he should help formulate an uniform policy to regulate fees in Parliament rather than pick up a soft target in doctors of the Kosi belt of Bihar, Dr Prasad said.
He also said the IMA would take call on mandatory registration of doctors under Bihar Nursing Act after Patna High court gives a verdict on related matter. He said the IMA had called a meeting and might take up the matter with central IMA and Bihar government if needed.
Meanwhile, the IMA president of Saharsa district Dr U C Mishra said doctors are under a spell of fear. Let there be regulation in saying that “Pappu Yadav has no business of enforcing regulations on doctors to take out political mileage”.
As reported over two dozen doctors of the district had met Saharsa DM on Wednesday requesting him to ensure their safety and freedom to practice in a fear-free atmosphere.
