Boy dies after PMCH employee gives empty oxygen cylinder

Patna,(BiharTimes): A nine-year old boy died in Patna Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday night after one of its employees allegedly replaced the oxygen cylinder with an empty one.

According to reports it all happened after Roshan’s father refused to pay a bribe of Rs 100 to the employee, Suhhash Prasad.

The boy was suffering from septicaemia (blood infection) and he was prescribed regular oxygen intake by the doctors.

Reports said that on Wednesday morning, he was given oxygen cylinder but when it was consumed, Roshan’s father approached the hospital staff to replace it with a filled one. Subhash reportedly demanded Rs 100 to replace the cylinder.

However, when he was refused by Roshan’s father he allegedly gave the boy an empty cylinder. Roshan died in few hours due to suffocation.

The hospital administration has constituted a probe committee of three members and promised stern action once the report comes out
