Patna,(BiharTimes): Members in Bihar Assembly on Friday raised the issue of what they allege fleecing of money by Patna-based Paras hospital.Raising the issue Mahendra Baitha (BJP) alleged that this hospital was charging exorbitantly from the patients. Citing the example of a Gopalganj-based patient the MLA said the patient was admitted to the hospital for just eight hours, but it charged Rs two lakh, even though he died during treatment.

When there was strong protest over it by the attendants, the hospital reduced the fees to Rs 50,000.
Bhai Dinesh (RJD) also questioned the hospital’s attitude.The health minister Ramdhani Singh said government has directed Patna civil surgeon to inquire into the matter.When members pressed the issue, the minister sought one week’s time to get the civil surgeon report and take follow-up action.
