Field day for burglars in VIP colony on Sat-Sun night


Patna,(BiharTimes): Burglars had a field day on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday when most of the people had moved to other places out of fear of fresh tremors.


Incidentally, these three high-profile thefts were committed in the houses of two former ministers and a former legislators in Kautilya Nagar under Airport police station of the state capital.Apart from them several other cases of theft are being reported from the different places in Patna.


Kautilya Nagar, otherwise a VIP colony, is known for burglary. As the administration and police put all their attention on Gandhi Maidan, parks and other open spaces, where people had taken shelter on Saturday and Sunday the thieves got a good opportunity.


The biggest incident took place in the house of Muneshwar Choudhary, minister in the Lalu-Rabri regime, from where criminals decamped with ornaments worth Rs one lakh besides cash worth Rs 6 lakh.


According to police Choudhary had gone to Hajipur to attend the marriage in a close relative. As earthquake struck he preferred to stay at night there and returned to the city on Sunday morning.


The former minister had reportedly requested a close acquaintance to look after the house in his absence. But as rumours of fresh quake spread the said person left the house to take shelter elsewhere and it was left unprotected.Thefts were committed in the house of former minister Kripa Nath Pathak and former legislator P.N. Sharma.
