N N Singh report: Nitish playing into the hands of BJP, alleges social activist

Patna,(BiharTimes): Social activist and leading light of the Insani Ekta Mohim, Satya Narayan Madan, has alleged that by tabling the N N Singh Commission report chief minister Nitish Kumar has not only played into the hands of the BJP, but has shown his utter lack of commitment to secularism.

Talking to BiharTimes Madan asked as to what objective he wants to achieve by tabling the Bhagalpur riots report on the last day of the Monsoon Session, when no debate can be held and even no action can be taken.

Insani Ekta Mohim is an organization founded after the Bhagalpur riots of 1989. It was also active after the Patna City riots of Oct-Nov 1990.

According to Madan the Bihar chief minister has given enough ammunition to the BJP by tabling the report at such an inappropriate time. He asked as to how can a government accept N N Singh Commission report on the same riots without rejecting the earlier report of the three-member Commission submitted way back in 1995.

He charged that Nitish may use the tabling of N N Singh report as a tool to have any future deal with the BJP. This is very dangerous.

Madan, who had in the past been close to both Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad, said that the latter at least showed some commitment in fighting the BJP, while the chief minister appears to be just fooling the people of the state, especially the Muslims. “Why not constitute an inquiry commission to probe the riots which took place at the time of partition,” he asked satirically adding that Nitish should stop indulging in such dirty games.
