Patna,(BiharTimes): Even before the announcement of the result, the camp led by ward councillor Jeet Kumar, on Wednesday conceded defeat against Afzal Imam in the election for the post of Patna mayor held on Tuesday. The election was necessitated after Afzal lost the vote of confidence a few weeks back.

The result is likely to be announced on Friday after the permission of Patna high court.
Congratulating Imam and thanking all those who supported him Jeet accepted defeat and blamed his own supporters of betraying him.

Vinay Kumar Pappu, councilor of ward number 28, who went to Patna high court against Imam, also conceded that his candidate got less support than expected. However, he attributed it to horsetrading, misuse of money and coercion.

In all 71 out of 72 councillors took part in the voting. Meena Kumari of ward number 48 was the only one who was not present in the voting. 

Though the municipal corporation election is not held on party basis yet when Afzal was voted out it was dubbed as a setback to the ruling Janata Dal (United).
