Clash in rally date averted as PM’s Bhagalpur show shifted from Aug 30 to Sep 1

Patna,(BiharTimes): Perhaps due to the announcement of grand alliance rally in Patna on August 30, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday shifted the date of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Parivartan Rally in Bhagalpur from August 30 to September 1, (Tuesday), which would be a working day.

Apparently the reason put forward by the BJP workers is something unconvincing. They told the local media that as the holy month of Shawan ends on August 29 the party now decided to change the date as it wants to give time for the Mela piligrims to rest.

But the big unanswered question is: it was known beforehand that the month of Shrawan ends on August 29, so why was the date for Parivartan rally first fixed on August 30.

Bhagalpur watchers are of the view that the date has been shifted because of the Swabhiman Rally of JD(U), RJD and Congress in Patna on August 30.

If the date has been shifted because it clashes with the Swabhiman rally then where is the need for it. After all the two venues are 225 kms away from each other.

Some BJP workers argue that all the vehicles of Bhagalpur and adjoining places would be taken away by the supporters of grand alliance so it would be difficult for them to hire them. But the date of PM rally was announced much earlier and the buses would have been booked by saffron party much earlier.

However, independent political observers are of the view that the date has been shifted as Narendra Modi may get time to counter the attack made on him on August 30 rally in Patna.

But more importantly the BJP does not want the two rallies to be compared. TV channels and newspapers may indulge in such comparison, which may not be good for the BJP.

Apart from this, the rally at Patna may get much bigger media attention than the one in Bhagalpur on the same day for logistic reasons
