Patna,(BiharTimes): The state government on Thursday evening shifted the Patna district magistrate and SSP Pratima Verma and Vikas Vaibhav respectively. They have been transferred within 12 and 64 days of their posting in the state capital.

Gaya DM Sanjay Kumar Agrawal will replace Pratima Verma, who has been made managing director of North Bihar Power Distribution Corporation Ltd.

Darbhanga DM Kumar Ravi has been shifted to Gaya in the same capacity. He would be replaced by D Balamurugam.

Gaya SSP Manu Maharaj has been made Patna SSP in place of Vikas Vaibhav. He would be holding this post for the second time in recent years. Vaibhav has been shifted to Purnea and the Purnea SP Nishant Tiwary would be new Gaya SSP. Incidentally, he had held this post earlier too.

Though the transfer came hours after lathicharge on the madarsa teachers, who were protesting against the non-payment of salary for the last two years, observers are of the view that the removal of the ruling party hoardings and banners, arrest of Anant Singh and chargesheeting of RJD chief Lalu Prasad for what happened during the July 27 Bihar bandh day might be the reasons for the sudden transfer of SSP, who, according to some media reports, is somewhat upset.

But the swift removal of Patna DM has came as a surprise as her tenure was too short to be judged

The top brass of Patna administration has been sent packing just ahead of the Swabhiman rally of August 320 and analysts are attaching political meaning to it. The cane-charge on madarsa teachers was just an excuse.
