I am under-qualified for the post of state RJD chief: Misa

Patna,(BiharTimes): Though Misa Bharati ruled out any such possibility speculations are rife that Lalu Prasad’s eldest daughter may succeed Ram Chandra Purvey as the state unit chief of the Rashtriya Janata Dal.

The issue of Misa being made as the state unit chief was first raised on Saturday by Ilyas Husain, Dehri-on-Sone MLA and former minister. As Ilyas is considered close to Lalu political observers started saying that the RJD chief might have adopted an indirect approach to get her daughter installed.

As reported in a section of media Misa was a bit upset over not being inducted in the cabinet. Analysts say that Lalu is in a fix and wants to solve this family problem at the earliest.

But Misa was quoated in The Telegraph as saying: “I am under-qualified for the post of state unit president and there are other senior leaders in the party who could don the chair. However, I am grateful that party leaders are giving me so much of respect and love but so far as taking the post, I am under-qualified. Becoming a minister and having a post in the organisation are two different things. Seniority and experience matter in running the organisation and party.”

“There is a demand of some people in the party and I feel great that they think I am capable for that post. In future, if the party gives me any responsibility, I will see. But as of now, I am not in the race for the post. I do not consider myself experienced enough for the post,” she added.

Misa further told the daily: “I will not step back if any responsibility is given to me for the betterment of the state and the party. But again I must say that as of now, I am in the race for any post.”

She said that both her brothers Tej Pratap and Tejaswi are doing fine and behaving maturedly as politics is in their blood.

It must be noted that RJD legislature party leader Rabri Devi had earlier said that Misa was not interested in any post but want to contest the next Lok Sabha elections.

Misa had contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections but lost to BJP candidate, and now Union minister, Ram Kripal Yadav by over 40,000 votes.

State organizational election in Bihar is due early next month. The present incumbent Ram Chandra Purvey has been on this post since December 2005.
