Phase-wise ban on ‘desi’, foreign liquor sale from 2016

Patna,(BiharTimes): In an attempt to dispel the confusion on prohibition excise minister Abdul Jalil Mastan said on Friday the liquor ban would be imposed in a phase-wise manner from the year 2016.
Talking to the media he said that first sale of ‘desi’ (country-made) and ‘masaladar’ liquor would be banned from April 1, 2016. As the administration is finding it difficult to impose total ban in one go the ban on the Indian Made Foreign Liquor would come into effect from September 1.
In this meantime the state government’s Bihar State Beverage Corporation Ltd would be selling the Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). Thus all the wine shops would be closed by next year.
He refuted the charge that the state government has taken a U-turn on the issue of total ban.
Chief minister Nitish Kumar had earlier said that a total ban would be imposed from next year April.
On the other hand RJD leader and former chief minister Rabri Devi said that sale of IMPL has not been banned in Bihar.
