Ex-RJD MLA assaulted, SUV looted, recovered


Patna,(BiharTimes): Criminals assaulted former Masaurhi MLA of RJD, Dharmendra Prasad Yadav, near Sarwan railway crossing in rural Patna late on Tuesday night, and sped away with his SUV.
However, according to SSP, Manu Maharaj, the vehicle was later recovered by the police.
According to reports the incident took place when he was on his way to Sonmai village in Dhanarua police station area of Masauri sub-division of Patna district.
Reports said that five armed criminals made Dharmendra, his driver Ashok Kumar and railway gateman hostage at gun-point when his vehicle reached the closed level crossing.
When the driver tried to resist one of the criminals attacked him with the butt of his pistol. The MLA too was hit as he tried to rescue his driver.
They then escaped with the SUV abandoning the three on the road.
The SSP said the gang had been identified and the looted vehicle recovered.
Dharmendra, who crossed over to the BJP sometimes back, had fractured his left hand in the incident.
