I am duty-bound to back Nitish’s candidature for CM post: Manjhi

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said on Monday that he is duty-bound to back the candidature of Nitish Kumar for the post of chief minister if the party is voted back to power in the coming Assembly election later this year.

Talking to the media on the sidelines of the weekly Janata Darbar he said that he would definitely support such a resolution by the Janata Dal (United) to elect Nitish Kumar as the chief minister as the party would contest it under his leadership for which a decision has already been taken.

He said that his ‘bhavna’ (feeling) is that a Dalit should succeed him as the chief minister, but his ‘kartavya’ (duty) is to support Nitish. Herein lies the difference. He felt that a Dalit could care more about welfare of the poor and downtrodden sections of the society. A Dalit can think more about plight of the Dalit community and work for their welfare.

To a question he asked the mediapersons what is wrong if there is demand by some party leaders or legislators to replace him?
