Case registered against Sharad for ‘casteist’ remarks against Manjhi

 


Patna,(BiharTimes): A case has been registered against the national president of Janata Dal (United), Sharad Yadav, in Airport Police station under SC/ST (Prevention of atrocities) Act on the direction of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court for his alleged casteist remarks against Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi.


According to Senior Superintendent of Police Patna Jitendra Rana the case was registered on Tuesday night on the order of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Patna, Bharat Singh, who had summoned the police to his court.The state general secretary of the Lok Janshakti Party Vishnu Paswan had on December 3 last filed a case against Sharad in the CJM court here under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.


It was alleged that Sharad’s comments made in Kanpur on December 2 about the educational and political qualifications of Manjhi hurt the sentiments of Dalits and people of Musahar community.


The LJP leader had also filed a complaint with the Harijan police station at Boring Road. He said the JD(U) president had described Manjhi as a “Musahar” (rat eaters) who never went to a school.The SSP said the police would proceed in accordance with rules.
