No knowledge of Mulayam’s phone calls to Nitish: Sharad

Patna,(BiharTimes): The national president of Janata Dal  (United), Sharad Yadav, said on Thursday that he has no  knowledge about Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav  calling on former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on  Wednesday.

Media reports said that Mulayam rang up Nitish thrice on  Wednesday to urge him to once again take over the post of  chief minister if he is serious in taking on the challenge of  the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Even RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav has said that his  party’s support is for the Janata Dal (United) government and  not for any individual.

These developments came on the day of hectic political  activities. Late in the night chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi  went to met Sharad in Chanakya Hotel. When Manjhi arrived at  the hotel the state party chief Vashistha Narayan Singh, was  there, but he immediately left for the residence of Nitish  Kumar.

Sources also revealed that Sharad reportedly sought  resignation from the chief minister, but the latter refused  to oblige him.

But Sharad now denies all these reports. He even went on to  say that merger would definitely take place soon.

The reported pressure on Nitish by Mulayam to take over again  and even a sort of green signal by Lalu Prasad has given a  new twist to the state politics.

Political observers are of the view that the noose around  Manjhi is tightening. Much depends on the way the Delhi  election results go. If the BJP loses––as is being predicted  by most surveys and experts and conceded privately by many of  its own leaders––the JD(U) may go for a change of leadership  here in Bihar.
