Meeting collapsed as Manjhi refuses to budge

Patna,(BiharTimes): A two-hour long high-level meeting of the Janata Dal (United) collapsed because chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi refused to yield his ground.Earlier in the day Manjhi went to attend the meeting at the residence of Nitish Kumar.

The meeting was attended only by Janata Dal (United) national and state presidents Sharad Yadav and Vashistha Narayan Singh respectively, and senior ministers Narendra Singh, Brishen Patel and Bijendra Yadav––the first two of Manjhi camp. Party Secretary General K C Tyagi was not in the meeting––probably consciously kept away from it.

Sources said that Manjhi went to attend the meeting at around mid-noon fully prepared not to budge an inch from his position. Before him Narendra Singh went to the house of Nitish to arrange this meeting. While the meeting was going on reports––confirmed or unconfirmed––started filtering out that Manjhi has been offered different options, even the post of Speaker.

But Manjhi was not prepared to accept Nitish Kumar as the chief minister of Bihar once again. He stuck to his position and around 2:00 PM came out. He went to his residence to attend the cabinet meeting, where the single line agenda was dissolution of the House. Seven of his ministers backed him.
