Assembly secretariat receives notice for removal of Speaker

Patna,(BiharTimes): The office of the secretary of the Bihar  Assembly on Friday received a notice from an Independent MLA  Pawan Kumar Jaiswal for moving a resolution to remove Speaker  Uday Narayan Chaudhary from his post.

The notice was received seven days before chief minister Jitan  Ram Manjhi has been asked to prove majority in the Assembly. Jaiswal, a supporter of Manjhi, cited in his application  instances to show the Speaker’s alleged biasedness towards the  rival camp of Nitish Kumar.

Chaudhary confirmed an application for moving a resolution  against him had been accepted. Jaiswal’s notice cited a number of examples to show the  Speaker had taken decisions that raised doubts about his  impartiality.

Among the instances cited was the Speaker’s decision on  February 7 to recognize Nitish Kumar as leader of the JD(U)  legislature party.

Jaiswal said he had also sent a representation questioning the  Speaker’s impartiality to Raj Bhawan and sought the  intervention of the governor in the matter.
