DD woman programme executive receives threat letter

Patna,(BiharTimes): A senior woman programme executive with Doordarshan, Ratna Purkayastha, on Wednesday lodged a complaint with the Gandhi Maidan police station in which she said she had received an anonymous letter threat-ening to eliminate her if she did not take back a case she had filed against state food minister, Shyam Rajak, in 2013.

According to her the letter was on her table when she reached her office on Wednesday morning. The letter does not have any name or names of the sender. It just mentions the sender as ‘Tera Subhchintak’ (Your well-wisher).

The letter asked her to be within her limits. It also warned how she dared to clash with Shyam Rajak. The letter, according to complaint, also asked her to stop moving around in organisations or she would be thrown into hell.

She said that the letter asked her to meet Shyam Rajak and seek forgiveness and withdraw the case if she wants to be spared.

Terrified Ratna has asked for police protection.

On December 2013, Ratna had lodged a complaint against Rajak accusing him of mental harassment. In a complaint filed at the Shastrinagar police station, she had said that on November 22 (2013), Shyam Rajak had called up on her phone and threatened her to listen to his ‘bhai’ (brother).

Ratna had lodged an FIR under Sections 502 and 504 of the IPC against Rajak.
Ratna’s husband Sanjay Shreevats is a senior bureaucrat with Government of India.
