Nitish denies deploying police at mango orchard in Manjhi’s residence

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday strongly denied the allegation levelled by his predecessor Jitan Ram Manjhi that two dozen policemen have been deployed at his 1, AnneyMarg residence to prevent Dalits and poor visitors from taking away mangoes and litches from the orchard.

“I am more bothered about awam (people), rather than aam (mango),” the chief minister hit back after seeking clarification from the DGP P K Thakur. The latter also refuted the charge of former chief minister.

It was only on Wedneday that Manjhi made this allegation. His son-in-law, Devendra Kumar too tried to gave a Dalit twist to the alleged episode.

Reacting to Hindustani Awam Morcha leader’s charge Nitish said that he would offer mangoes and litchis to Manjhi “from my own money.” He didnot stop there but added Manjhi is still busy spending money on the bungalow, which he should have vacated.

Nitish said that since Manjhi has “rahne ka mooh” (greed to live inthe CM’s residence) “let him stay there for another two to four months.”

But the CM hastened to add that after the election only that person would go to live there whom the people like (“Janata jis ko bithai gi wah jai ga).
